  • Wayne Selden Interview

    UConnBall Writer
    Joey Natale

UConnBall caught up with super talented 2014 prospect, Wayne Selden. Seldon plays for one of UConn's close AAU teams, BABC, and goes to the Tilton School. Wayne plays along side UConn's top priority, 2013 shot blocking phenom, Nerlens Noel, along with other UConn targets such as Goodluck Okonoboh and Jaylen Brantley.

Wayne describes his game as a power guard, who loves the open floor and making plays when on the break.

Ball handling, defensive rebounding and defense are the three things in particular that Selden thinks he needs to work on. Although, he feels he should improve on every aspect of his game.

Selden claims six offers from UConn, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Boston College and Providence with no school currently leading for his talents.

At UConn, the elite guard used to speak to ex-Assistant Coach Andre Lafleur before he left UConn for Providence College. Now, he frequently speaks with UConn's top recruiter, Kevin Ollie. Wayne says he has a good relationship with Coach Ollie.

At Kentucky, Wayne hasn't spoke to any coaches but he claims an offer and letters. He also added that Kentucky staff members have spoken to his AAU coaches about Wayne.

Wayne was supposed to visit UConn a few weeks ago, but the visit was postponed due to Jim Calhoun not being present on campus. A visit is being rescheduled to UConn and there are no other visits setup for Selden as of right now.

In selecting a school, Wayne is looking for a warm welcome. He also wants to be on a championship contending team and to develop his game for the next level.

Wayne said he'll come out with a list toward the middle or end of the next AAU season.

He added that he loves to hang out with friends and listen to rappers such as Drake, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Wale and Moufy.

UConn will be a contender in Wayne Selden's recruitment until decision day. Wayne is definitely a priority in UConn's target of 2014. The UConnBall staff looks forward to speaking with the elite player once again.

So, Ziegler opted for South Florida. I'm left with a few questions about what direction we're going in as far as recruiting:
