After a stellar junior and AAU campaign, 6’4’’ point guard and Brooklyn native Terrence Samuel committed to the University of Connecticut. I was fortunate enough to sit down with Terrence and talk about his upcoming season and his commitment to UConn.
What goals do you have in mind as you begin your senior season of high school?
Terrence: I want to get a championship and average a triple-double.
What do you think you need to improve upon the most?
Terrence: Everything. There is always room for improvement.
What pro player do you model your game after?
Terrence: Rajon Rondo, because I’m a big guard.
What does UConn have that other schools don’t? What was the factor that made you chose UConn?
Terrence: The coaching staff is great. I love those guys. They make you feel like you’re at home and you believe everything they tell you. Also, the crowd base is outstanding.
Who’s one UConn player, past or present, would you want to play alongside?
Terrence: Probably Ray Allen. He is a shooter and I will get him the ball. Or Omar [Calhoun], I think. Me and him would be good in the backcourt.
What should UConn fans expect from you the day you walk on campus?
Terrence: A player that’s going to give 110% every day.
Terrence has just finished up his AAU campaign with fellow Husky-commit Kentan Facey. We’re all anxious to see Terrence in a Husky uniform and we wish him luck on his senior season.
