What a difference a year makes? Everyone that is a UConn Husky fan has or is saying this regarding the 2011-2012 men's basketball season. A year after coming off a miraculous championship run, all things pointed to a potential repeat with Ryan Boatright and the late additions of Deandre Daniels and then of course UConn's first 1 and done Andre Drummond. Well now it is time to look ahead to the future in our latest installment of the Recruiting Round Up 2012 edition.
2012
Guard Commit, Omar Calhoun- We recently spoke with Omar Calhoun Sr. He told us that Omar is still 100% committed and signed. Calhoun Jr will be wearing number 21 as a husky next year.
Guard Committed Holy Cross Transfer, RJ Evans- RJ committed to UConn a few weeks ago. He fulfills the guard needs for UConn in the class of 2012, leaving bigs as a priority.
Center, Bradley Hayes- Now that he had a strong showing in this weekend's Pitt Jam Fest, he will release a final list sometime this week, his AAU coach Carlos Morales of the D12 warriors told UConnBall. UConn's Jim Calhoun as well as assistant coach Kevin Ollie checked out Bradley three times this weekend at the Pitt Jam Fest. It is clear that UConn is making him a priority. Other schools involved with Bradley are Florida, Georgetown, Texas A&M and USF among a few others.
Center, Chris Obekpa- UConn is still keeping in touch with Obekpa and his corner, but the APR situation isn't helping the cause. We have learned that Cincinnati and St. John's are the front runners and Oregon isn't far behind. UConn has a shot, but chances are getting smaller.
Guard, Josh Gray- UConn is among 5 schools Josh is considering. We at UConnball feel it maybe a bit of a long shot to get Josh inked but you never know... Here is more on Josh's recruitment so far /content/josh-gray-update-394/
Note: There are many high major available seniors on the market. Expect the UConn staff to try to get involved with a few transfer, JUCOs and even Europeans.
2013
Forward, Jermaine Lawrence- Jermaine recently picked up a UConn offer. He's a hybrid forward that plays above the rim. Lawrence is being recruited by all the Big East schools.
Point Guard, Xavier Rathan-Mayes- The staff is really making XRM a priority at the point guard position for the class of 2013. UConn calls Rathan-Mayes almost everyday and expect them to be a factor until the end. Illinois, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, NC State, Arizona and more are involved in the recruitment of Rathan-Mayes.
Guard, Isaac Hamilton- Recently told us that UConn is very much involved with his recruitment. He is also hearing from Arizona, Louisville, Washington, Washington State, Colorado and more.
Forward, Kuran Iverson- UConn is still very much involved in the recruitment of Kuran but right now, Kentucky is Kuran's favorite, although he doesn't claim an offer from the Wildcats.
Forward, Goodluck Okonoboh- Despite his cousin, former UConn player Alex Oriakhi, transferring away from UConn, UConn is still involved and he is still interested in them.
Forward, MiKyle McIntosh- Recently picked up a UConn offer and is also hearing from Oregon, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, NC State, Seton Hall, Tennessee, VCU and more.
Power Forward, Devin Williams- UConn is the newest school to the recruitment of Devin. He has offers from West Virginia, UCLA, Xavier, Louisville and many more.
Point Guard, Sam Singer- Sam recently told UConnBall that UConn is a newer school involved with him. He has offers from UCF, South Carolina and more with interest from Stanford, Tennessee to name a few.
Point Guard, Joseph Chealey- Recently picked up interest from UConn. Has interest from Penn State, Florida State, UTEP, Bucknell, Campbell and a lot more schools.
Point Guard, Kendall Smith- Thanks to our own Tony for letting us know that UConn is recruiting this talented guard. We got in touch with Kendall and he told us that the schools recruiting him include UConn, Arizona USC, Arizona St, UCLA, Washington St, UCSB, Boise St, UNLV, Cal and Colorado.
2014
Forward, Chris McCullough- We were recently told by his AAU coach that reports of UConn being his dream school were false and that he does already have a UConn offer. UConn was in the gym to watch him and point guard teammate Conrad Chambers on Sunday.
Guard, Kahari Beaufort- We recently caught up with Kahari, here's a link :/content/kah...uconnball-395/
Guard, Wayne Selden- UConn saw Selden this weekend and he has added newer offers from Florida and Missouri.
Wing, Shaqquan Aaron- Shaq recently told us that he has UConn at the top of his list along with some PAC-12 schools.
2015:
Center, Stephen Zimmerman- UConn as well as a plethora of other high majors saw him this weekend. He holds a UConn offer.
As usual Husky fans stay with UConnball for up to date recruiting information.
